A company with tradition
Dr. Niedermaier Pharma GmbH, based in Hohenbrunn near Munich, has been an independent, German family business with a long tradition and in-depth expertise in plant science, fermentation and enzyme research since 1939.

How it all began
In a time of unrest and uncertainty, the visionary pharmacist and food chemist Dr. Hans Niedermaier (1913-2003) took the courageous step of founding a company. By pursuing his vision of "health the natural way" and the philosophy of "healing through self-healing," he brought his convictions to life. Finally, in 1939, the pharmaceutical company Dr. Niedermaier Pharma GmbH was founded in Hohenbrunn near Munich.
Through his research in naturopathy, Dr. Hans Niedermaier has gained extensive knowledge about the fascinating, profound effects of ferments. These fundamental insights provide a valuable understanding of the functionality of the body's own enzymes. Using this knowledge, he is developing a new production technology: cascade fermentation. This innovative and patented process is considered the "royal road to fermentation."
With passion and a vision for a big breakthrough
The family business was taken over and further developed in 2001 by the daughter of the company founder, pharmacist Dr. rer. nat. Cordula Niedermaier-May.
After completing her pharmacy studies, Cordula Niedermaier-May went into business for herself and successfully opened her own pharmacy. But then a turning point came. In 2000, the family dog became ill from the effects of pesticide poisoning and recovered after being given a fermented essence. This life-changing experience prompted Cordula Niedermaier-May to sell her pharmacy and take over her father's then-struggling business and research.
Her vision: to support people in a natural way. Passion, courage, her positive attitude, and her belief in the product helped the Bavarian powerhouse make the company a success.
After a six-page PR article in the magazine "Natur und Heilen" in 2003, thousands of bottles were ordered overnight, and one call followed the next. More inquiries, more production, more staff, and, from now on, even machine support were established.
A new chapter
In July 2022, the founding Niedermaier-May family ushered in a new chapter for Dr. Niedermaier GmbH. Ufenau Capital Partners acquired a majority stake in the Dr. Niedermaier Pharma Group. The goal is to establish Dr. Niedermaier as a leading group of companies in the field of nutritional supplements in Europe.
Together with Ufenau, the company aims to expand its strong market position through strategic acquisitions, expanding its product portfolio and extending its geographical reach.
Dennis Gmeiner has been the new Managing Director in Hohenbrunn since November 2024 and explains the company's strategy following the change:
"With Ufenau Capital Partners from Switzerland, we have a strong strategic investor behind us. This will not change our corporate culture or our commitment to promoting people's health with our products, but we now have completely different opportunities, such as generating synergies within a growing group of companies. The NZYM Group, the holding company, was founded for this purpose.
The company has acquired the Sinoplasan Group, another group of companies in the nutritional supplements sector. Located near Stuttgart, they are very strong in the production of nutritional supplements in capsule format. We expect great synergy potential here for the future."
